FAQ

When should I take a pregnancy test?

As soon as you miss your period, you can take a pregnancy test. However, the earlier in pregnancy you take the test, the higher the likelihood of a false-negative result.

This is because pregnancy tests work by detecting the presence of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG), the hormone associated with pregnancy. If a test is taken too early in a pregnancy, your hCG levels may not be substantial enough to be detected by the test.

This is why we suggest waiting until a missed period or at least 3 weeks after your estimated date of conception. If your period is irregular, we again recommend waiting 3 weeks after your estimated conception date before taking a pregnancy test.

What services do you offer?

We offer free, medical grade pregnancy tests. No matter the results of the test, our staff will be by your side to lend a listening ear throughout the process.

Upon receiving a positive pregnancy test, you are eligible for an ultrasound exam to look for uterine pregnancy and fetal heartbeat.

We provide emotional and educational support through your pregnancy and until your child is a year old. By participating in our program, you are able to visit the Butterfly Boutique at your appointments.

What do your services cost?

All our services are offered free of charge.

Do you provide the abortion pill or in-clinic abortions?

The Wakulla Pregnancy Center does not offer or refer for abortion. We provide counseling and medically accurate information about abortion procedures.

We can refer you for a free limited ultrasound to determine a viable pregnancy and to see fetal heartbeat. We believe it is every woman’s right to be well informed before making such a life altering decision when pregnant.

Do I need an appointment and what do I bring?

We recommend scheduling appointment by calling (850) 210-1276 or scheduling your appointment online. We do take walk-ins, but see scheduled appointments first. You only need to bring a photo ID with you.
